Friday Food Bites: El Camino Inn closing; Fiery Sky Asian Kitchen and Dahab Restaurant opening

by admin

There’s always a lot happening in the Columbus restaurant world! Here’s the latest:

  • The owners of El Camino Inn announced earlier this week that the taco and tequila joint will be closing for good after business this Saturday, Nov. 23. They cited lease issues as the reason for the closure. El Camino Inn is owned by the same restaurant group that owns Little Place next door and Club 185 in German Village. The eatery is also part vintage shop, and all fixtures and items are on sale.
  • Dahab Restaurant & Café opens today – Friday, Nov. 22 – at 3708 Fishinger Blvd. in Hilliard. Dahab is a Mediterranean eatery that first opened in San Francisco in 2020. This is the first central Ohio location for it.
  • A new Chinese eatery called Fiery Sky Asian Kitchen soft opened this week at 1450 Bethel Rd.
  • A new Yemeni coffee truck called DRK Coffee has set up shop at 19 E. 13th Ave. near Ohio State’s campus.
  • Speaking of coffee, Jennings Java and Royal Flamingo Coffee have paired up to create a special Friendsgiving roast, available at their respective shops starting today.
  • As of this week, Dirty Frank’s new campus location is open for lunch Thursdays through Sundays.
  • The organizers of Columbus Beerfest announced that they’re wrapping up their run after 15 years. They had run the Columbus Winter Beerfest and Columbus Summer Beerfest since 2010; they said they decided to close based on lower attendance and higher costs. They’ll continue to produce similar festivals in Cincinnati, Cleveland, and Pittsburgh.
  • The owner of the Clutch Handhelds food truck announced on social media that they’re taking a break to regroup and potentially return in a new form.
  • The cocktail bar Cobra in the Brewery District was named one of the 5 Best New Cocktail Bars for 2024 by Punch Drunk magazine.
  • Columbus Food Adventures is hosting two Taste Of dinners with the Casa Karmelitas food truck on Dec. 4 and 11 at 934 Gallery. You can order your tickets here.
