There’s always a lot happening in the Columbus restaurant world! Here’s the latest:

  • A new gathering spot called Firefly Winery is holding its grand opening in Old Hilliard this week. Described as an “urban winery,” Firefly is located at 5435 Franklin St., down the street from Center Street Market. It features a variety of house-made wines and snacks.
  • A new cocktail-centric sports bar called Capri also opened this week at 39 E. Gay St. downtown. Capri is run by the folks behind the recently-shuttered Bistrolino in German Village, and features a mix of classic and creative cocktails, plus elevated bar snacks like lamb meatballs, za’atar chicken wings, and lobster mac and cheese.
  • Katzinger’s Deli is celebrating its 40th anniversary next week Thursday, Oct. 24 with a party at their German Village location. That night they’ll offer complimentary hors d’oeuvres, non-alcoholic drinks, and live music. You can RSVP through this link. Katzinger’s is also partnering with Wolf’s Ridge Brewing, which brewed a special rye pilsner named 1984. Additionally, Columbus Food Adventures is hosting a celebratory feast at Katzinger’s on Thursday, Nov. 7. You can book seats here.
  • Today Hoyo’s Kitchen opens its new burger concept, Rhino Smashburger Co., at Bubbly Food Hall in New Albany. It’ll serve burgers, loaded fries, and shakes.
  • A new cocktail bar called Sand Valley Cocktail Club was announced this week; it’s slated to open early in 2025 at 6770 Riverside Dr. in Dublin’s Bridge Park.
  • Yoshi Yum recently open a third central Ohio location at 3889 Powell Rd., which was previously a Mr. Hibachi location.
  • Tune in to the Food Network tonight at 9 p.m. to see Worthington’s own Joya’s Cafe featured on Diners, Drive-Ins, & Dives.
  • This week Three Tigers Brewing in Granville and Brew Brothers at Scioto Downs took home bronze metals at the Greater American Beer Festival in Denver. Three Tigers snagged an award for their oatmeal stout, while Brew Brothers earned some hardware for their English mild. They’re two of seven Ohio breweries that took home medals.
  • The German Village Apple Fest is this Sunday, Oct. 20 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., at the corner of City Park and Thurman avenues.
  • And on Sunday is Worthington’s Sunday Fundays, with the theme of Spooky Pooch Party. There will be food trucks, specials from local restaurants, street vendors, performers, and a parade of costumed pets.
  • On Nov. 20 Columbus Monthly Magazine is hosting its fall cocktail competition at Vitria’s on the Square.
